A LASER show will light up the London skyline on Thursday when The Shard is officially inaugurated.

The tallest building in Europe, next to London Bridge station, will be opened by the Duke of York and the Prime Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani.

The opening of the 310m-tall skyscraper will be marked with a dazzling light show that will be visible for miles around.

Irvine Sellar, chairman of the building’s developer Sellar Property, has told the Telegraph that there are three parties in “serious talks” to take on office space in the new landmark.

“We are in serious discussions with three separate parties,” said Mr Stellar. “We are not in a hurry, not under pressure.”
