Developer bids to replace Croydon office block with new flats

Posted on by Offices.org.uk

290 flats could replace a large office building in Croydon, if a developer’s application is successful.

Menta Redrow wants to demolish Galaxy House in Cherry Orchard Road, Croydon, and replace it with a new tower with hundreds of apartments.

The 12-storey, 43-metre tall, office building which would be knocked down to make way for the scheme was previously used as offices and a data centre by the Bank of America.

The developer says of the scheme: “The regeneration of the site will allow for this part of Cherry Orchard Road to be refreshed and reinvigorated. The redevelopment of this key site will play an important part in recreating Cherry Orchard Road as a high street with new residents on the Galaxy House site bringing increased vibrancy, footfall and spend to local shops and businesses.”

Following public consultations, local councillors will get a chance to voice their opinions on the scheme at a council meeting this week before the developer submits a full planning application.
