Basildon Council Approves Major Employment Development Creating 2,000 Jobs

BASILDON Borough Council has approved plans for a major employment-led development that is expected to create nearly 2,000 jobs in south Essex. The scheme, which received the green light following the signing of a Section 106 agreement, will deliver a significant new hub for commercial and industrial activity in the borough.

The project represents one of the largest employment developments in Basildon in recent years. Council leaders say it will bring substantial economic benefits, both by generating jobs across a range of sectors and by attracting new investment into the area. The Section 106 agreement secures contributions towards local infrastructure and services to ensure the development integrates effectively with the surrounding community.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the final quarter of 2025, with phased delivery anticipated over subsequent years. Once complete, the development is expected to provide modern workspace designed to meet the needs of a variety of businesses, supporting both established companies and new entrants to the local economy.

Council representatives highlighted the project as a key milestone in their growth and regeneration agenda. They argue that the development will not only strengthen Basildon’s role as an economic centre within Essex but also help address wider regional demand for high-quality employment land.

With planning now secured, attention turns to the delivery of the scheme and the opportunities it will bring for local residents and businesses alike.
