Listed Clerkenwell warehouse approved for new office conversion
A CLERKENWELL warehouse that has been used for many Hollywood movies will be turned in to new offices.
The Planning Committee at Islington Council approved the plans to convert the Grade-II listed Farmiloe building in St John Street.
3,000 sq metres of office space will be created in the building itself while a 1930s extension will be demolished to make way for a new five storey building with an additional 4,000 sq metres of offices.
The Farmiloe building, close to Smithfield Market and the City of London, was built in 1868 and replaced other buildings owned by the Farmiloe family that had been destroyed by a fire two years earlier.
The architect behind the approved proposals is Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. The movues Batman Begins and The Dark Knight both used the location for shooting.
